Hot Hairstyles This Winter

Just like florals and fake tan, some hairstyles are better off left in summer. With winter just around the corner, now is the time to embrace a brand new look for the new season – whether that’s a luscious new colour to warm up your skin tone or a sleek new cut to offset that gorgeous new coat.

From cool girl waves to sleek and sophisticated ponies, here are our top tips for the hottest hairstyles this winter.

The Baby Fringe

When it comes to restyling for a new season, we say go baby or go home! If you’re looking to make an impact with your new cut, why not go for one of Autumn/Winter 2018’s most eye-catching styles – the baby fringe? Taking the new fringe trend one step further, these ultra short bangs manage to look punky and cute at the same time.

The Glossy Goddess

Much like skincare, haircare in 2018 is all about health and wellbeing. So many of our favourite celebs have been hitting the red carpet with glossy, healthy-looking hair that it’s become a trend in its own right. Ask your stylist for a conditioning treatment and a hydrating shampoo and conditioner to get your gloss on.

The Buttery Blonde

While platinum blondes went, well, platinum over the summer season, autumn and winter are all about much warmer and more subtle shades. Buttery blondes have started cropping up on all the best catwalks and Insta feeds lately; probably because it’s a warm and natural shade that looks effortlessly cool and suits all skin tones.

The 70s Bangs

If baby bangs are a little too out there for you, why not start out with a soft and casual 70s-inspired fringe? Seen on everyone from Sienna Miller to Alexa Chung, this eyebrow-skimming fringe is relaxed and easy to style while lending your look a little French girl cool at the same time.

The Full Pony

Loads of our favourite naturally-textured stars have been wearing this fun-yet-sophisticated look lately. Easier to achieve than it looks, all this striking style needs is a good, strong gel to slick down the top of your hair into a tight, sleek ponytail. Then brush out your natural texture until it goes as big and beautiful as it likes.

The Casual Wave

Boho beach babes rejoice because summer’s popular casual waves have managed to cling on right into winter. A little more smooth and sophisticated than summer’s undone look, winter waves should be soft and shiny – ask your stylist to spritz on plenty of smoothing spray to avoid cold weather frizz.

The 60s Flip

Bored of carefully tousling your lob every Saturday night? If you’re over that look, the 60s-inspired flip is a fun new way to wear shoulder-grazing hair. Think big and bouncy on top, with a fun flick out at the bottom that can be easily achieved with a blow dry or straighteners.

The Zulu Knot

Winter weather can be a nightmare for very textured hair, with the cold temperatures and hot central heating leaving it dry, brittle and prone to breaking. Zulu or Bantu knots are a great way to protect your hair while keeping it looking fun and fashionable at the same time.

The Chestnut Chicks

What better way to celebrate autumn than to dye your hair to match it? Somewhere between a redhead and brunette, chestnut and auburn colours are becoming increasingly popular as we move into winter when the red-brown shades are perfect for warming up your skin tone. Ask your colourist to keep it super natural (not supernatural!) to get the perfect winter look.
